The LEGO Business History

The history within the LEGO firm begins in 1932 when Ole Kirk Christiansen, a Danish father, decided to start a business retailing his wood toys door to door in his town of Billund, Denmark. He named his start up business “Lego” – a combination of two Danish terms, “leg godt, ” which suggested “play well. ”

In 1958, the company’s founder, Godtfred Kristiansen, trademarked a system intended for coupling the plastic stones that would after become referred to as PROFANO “Automatic Binding Bricks. ” The invention allowed LEGO to produce more diverse and complicated toys.

From there, LEGO broadened it is offerings and began to appeal to both children. It released a line of “Minifigures” in the mid-1970s that contained human characters with posable arms, and in addition marketed charms sets intended for young girls.

Another expansion more than three decades ago saw the development of LEGO Space sets, presenting astronaut minifigures, rockets and spaceships, between other popular themes. It happened in 1999, the LEGO Group entered the Star Wars market, launching collections featuring the X-wing mma fighter and FASTEN Fighter.

While the company grew, it had to increase the ability to propose new products quickly and efficiently. To this end, it chosen management agent Jorgen Vig Knudstorp.

He helped the corporation cut down on products on hand and reduce creation time. This individual encouraged the business to build associations with main toy firms, including Goal, Wal-Mart and Toys ‘R’ Us.

This individual also launched LEGO Strategies, an online community where followers could upload proposals for new Seglar sets they will wanted to discover produced. This allowed SEGLAR to test the benefit of new thoughts and gain feedback before committing to all of them.
